POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The awards keep rolling in for Pearl River right-hander Shemar Page (Raleigh). One day after being named the MACJC's Pitcher of the Week, the sophomore Wildcat was named the NJCAA's Division II Pitcher of the Week.
The honor is No. 8 Pearl River's first national award of the 2019 season.
Page was huge for the Wildcats in their 11-4 victory over St. Louis last weekend, striking out 10 in five scoreless innings. Page surrendered just one walk before turning the game over to his bullpen.
The Louisiana Tech commit also hit .400 on the week, going 2-for-5 with a double, RBI, walk and three runs scored.
On the year, Page is 1-0 with 15 strikeouts in a team-high 10 innings. He has allowed just two unearned runs over that span and scattered two hits, two walks and one hit batter.
Page is also hitting .286 with three doubles and three RBIs through six games.
No. 8 Pearl River is back in action Friday with a home doubleheader against Coastal Alabama-South. First pitch at Dub Herring Park is set for 3 p.m.
