Pearl River's Miles Smith named MACJC Pitcher of the Week

For the second week in a row the MACJC's Pitcher of the Week hails from No. 8 Pearl River.

The league announced Tuesday that sophomore Miles Smith (Laurel; Northeast Jones) was tabbed the top JUCO pitcher in Mississippi. The honor comes one week after teammate Shemar Page (Raleigh) earned both MACJC and NJCAA Division-II Pitcher of the Week honors.

Smith played a crucial role in PRCC's sweep of Coastal Alabama-South on Sunday. The South Alabama signee allowed one unearned run in 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven against two hits and four walks.

On the year, Smith is 2-0 with 20 strikeouts and seven walks in 13 1/3 innings. He also boasts a 2.03 ERA.

The Wildcats hosted Baton Rouge on Tuesday at Dub Herring Park and will welcome Illinois Central to The Dub on Sunday for a noon doubleheader.
