Pearl River women's soccer earns four All-MACCC selections

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Following a third consecutive season with at least 10 wins, the Pearl River women's soccer team earned four All-Conference awards from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference.

Amélie Wittenkamp (Oelstykke, Denmark) and Holly Jones (Liverpool, England) took home First Team honors, while Anna Grace Deakle (Gulfport) and Abby Badurak (Gulfport) were named Second Team.

AMÉLIE WITTENKAMP
Wittenkamp was a steady force at the back of the Wildcat formation over the last two seasons and quickly became one of the best defensive players in the country. Her versatility allowed the Wildcats to move her around when necessary. She picked up one goal on the season for PRCC.

"She's been a rock on the backline for two years," head coach Henrik Madsen said. "She's gotten better and better. It's only deserved that she got First Team. She's good on the ball, good in the air and scored goals as a centerback."

HOLLY JONES
Jones arrived at Pearl River and made an immediate impact as an attacking midfielder or on the wing. The freshman led the MACCC in assists with 13 while playing in just 16 matches. She also bagged five goals throughout the year.

"Considering the fact that she played half of the season injured, it was a really good year for her," Madsen said. "She was one of the top freshman players in the country. We're looking forward to another great season for her next year."

ANNA GRACE DEAKLE
Deakle was often tasked with covering the opposing team's quickest and best attacker, slowing down their efforts with ease in the process. The sophomore locked down the outside back position and moved up the field to help create the attack. She ended the year with one assist.

"She's one of the best outside backs in the country," Madsen said. "She's got elite-level speed and is great in one-versus-one defending. If four players could make First Team All-Conference at the defender position, I think she would have made it there."

ABBY BADURAK
Badurak transferred to Pearl River following a season at the Division I level and was a difference-maker. She made 15 starts across 16 matches and bagged 11 goals — good enough for second on the team. She also chipped in a pair of assists.

"She was a vital part. She had to come in and get her love back for the game," Madsen said. "As the season progressed, she got better and better. I'm happy for her, and it was a good season overall."
