Mikayla Riley, Tye Gholar named Wildcats of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Following electric showings for their respective teams last week, Pearl River basketball standouts Mikayla Riley (Tupelo) and Tye Gholar (Jackson; Provine) have earned the first Wildcat of the Week of 2024.

MIKAYLA RILEY
A freshman guard, Riley was fantastic last week for the No. 12 Pearl River women's basketball team as the Wildcats defeated East Mississippi, Delgado and Coastal Alabama North.

Riley finished the week averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.3 assists. Her best game of the week came against Coastal Alabama North when she scored 15 points in 21 minutes of action.

Riley has had a fantastic freshman season, averaging 11.9 points and 3.6 rebounds through 14 games played.

TYE GHOLAR
Gholar only featured in one game on the week for the PRCC men's basketball team, but he did plenty of damage. In a 113-45 crushing win over Royal Ambassadors, Gholar finished with 31 points while shooting 75 percent from the field. He was electric from beyond the arc, finishing with seven made 3-pointers.

Gholar has featured in eight games for Pearl River this season, averaging 8.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.
