Robert J. "Buddy" Madison

Robert J. "Buddy" Madison played baseball at PRC from 1939-1941. The Slidell, Louisiana, native led the PRCC Baseball Wildcats to a runnerup spot for the 1941 state championship while batting at a .520 clip. He left PRCC and joined the Andalusia Rams of the Alabama State League and was immediately named to the all-star team.

Buddy volunteered for the Army Air Corp and served as an aircraft maintenance technician until 1945. Immediately after being discharged from service, he joined the West Texas-New Mexico League where he played 10 consecutive games and batted .300.

An old football knee injury he suffered while at PRCC during his first days on campus reoccurred, forcing his early retirement.

Madison coached and taught baseball at Slidell High School until 1958. He received his master's degree in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1960 and taught at William Carey College until 1966.

At the time of his 1990 induction, Madison had been a computer science professor at the University of Southeastern Louisiana since 1968.

Buddy and his wife had three daughters.
