Bob Jennings

PRC's 1951 football team allowed only 40 points during its 10 regular season games. While the PRC offense racked up 279 points, its defense shutout six opponents and allowed two other teams just one touchdown each, for a four point per game average. The only setback was a 13-6 regular season ending loss to Jones. Leading that hard-hitting, stingy defense up and down the line was team captain Bob Jennings of Prentiss. Jennings, who played football at Prentiss High from 1946-1950, joined the PRC team in the fall of 1950.

Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond awarded Jennings a scholarship where he played both offense and defense. He was named Southeastern's most valuable player and permanent team captain in 1953. He also made All-Gulf States Conference team. That was the same year the Southern Miss football players elected Jennings to their all opponent team. That award solidified Jennings as one of PRC's all time defensive players.

After graduating from Southeastern he began a coaching and teaching career in Louisiana. He coached nine years at St. Amant High School, three years at Baker, three years at Scotlandville Senior High and ended his career as assistant principal for 12 years at Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Jennings and his wife, Lorraine, have two sons.
