No. 4 Pearl River routs Bevill State in East Central Classic

DECATUR, Miss. — The No. 4 Pearl River Wildcats cruised to an easy win Monday afternoon when they defeated Bevill State 100-54 in their first game in the East Central Classic.

"I thought we played with the same focus that we had in the last game," Pearl River coach Chris Oney said. "I thought the kids were locked in and ready to go and competed at the level that we expect them."

The Wildcats (6-0 overall) got off to a hot start thanks to the play of St. John's signee Isaih Moore (Columbia, S.C.; Sumter), who scored 14 points in the first half alone. The Wildcats did not slow down from there, putting up 100 points on Bevill (5-3). This is the third game of the year where the Wildcats have reached triple digits on the scoreboard.

Moore led the Wildcats with 18 points while Tae Hardy (Ellenwood, Ga.; Believe Prep) had 17 points.

Kelvin Allen (Olive Branch) and Earl Smith (Jackson; Lanier) also reached double digits scoring 16 and 15 points respectively.

MOVIN' ON UP

The Wildcats received some good news Monday when they found out they are ranked No. 4 in the country. The ranking is PRCC's highest since climbing to No. 5 during the 2010-11 season.

"It's really cool", Oney said. "It was kind of hard to hide the emotion from the guys. You realize that it's all really coming together."

The Wildcats will take on Faith Prep tomorrow at 3 p.m. in their last game of the East Central Classic.
