No. 16 Pearl River's Jaronn Wilkens wins MACCC Player of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Just a few hours after being named First Team All-MACCC, Pearl River men's basketball's Jaronn Wilkens (Biloxi) has been tabbed the conference's Player of the Week.

The forward had an incredible string of performances last week for the 16th ranked Wildcats to help them claim their third Region 23 title in four years 

Over the week, he scored 62 points, hauled in 32 rebounds, and tallied 15 assists. He also shot 79.4 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line in those games.

He closed out the week with back-to-back double-doubles in the Region 23 semifinal and championship game. Against LSU Eunice in the semifinal, he had 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. One day later in the title clash with Meridian the sophomore tallied 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Heading into the NJCAA tournament, Wilkens leads the Wildcats in both points per game and rebounds per game with 12.4 and 5.9, respectively.

PRCC is set to take on Moberly Area Monday at 10 a.m. in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament. The game will be livestreamed at NJCAA.org/network for a fee.
