PRCC’s Timothy Turnage and Quentin Baker qualify for Gulf District Tournament

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River golf team's season came to an end Wednesday at The Oaks Golf Club in the MACCC Tournament. The Wildcats sat in the fifth position after round one with a stroke total of 317 but fell to eighth after round two with a total of 326.

Although the season ended for the rest of the team, Timothy Turnage (Picayune) and Quentin Baker (Poplarville) are moving on to the Gulf District Tournament to compete as individuals. Turnage qualified by way of a low season average while Baker qualified after having a low MACCC Tournament score.

TOURNAMENT RECAP
Baker and Turnage led the way in the tournament for the Wildcats. Baker finished the two-day event 10-over par after shooting a 75 and 79, respectively. The performance was good enough for 13th place. Turnage finished tied for 14th, shooting 12-over. The sophomore finished with a stroke total of 81 in round one and improved to 75 in round two.

Hunter Robinson (Purvis) tied for 29th place with a finish of 20-over. The sophomore finished with a two-round total of 164.

Chandler Van (West Monroe, La.) tied for 41st by shooting 25-over and Carson Cunningham (Carriere; Pearl River Central) rounded out the Wildcat performers with a 53rd-place finish.

The Gulf District Tournament will be held April 20-21 at Beau Pre' Country Club in Natchez.
