Pearl River men's golf grabs ninth at Jim Redgate Invitational

MERIDIAN, Miss. — The Pearl River men's golf team earned ninth place at the Jim Redgate Invitational hosted by Meridian, shooting 55-over across the two-day tournament. PRCC was 26-over in round one and 29-over in round two.

"After day one, we were five shots out of fifth place and 12 shots out of third place. We had two guys, Nate (Hickman) and Jeremiah (Cochran), shoot 76 and 78 both days. I was very proud of them for breaking 80. The rest of the guys held their own. We just have to all be on the same page on both days. We shot three shots worse in round two, but it was better than we had done in previous tournaments. We're getting our stroke average down. We have to improve on the second day. The guys are putting the hard work in."

Nathan Hickman (Picayune) and Jeremiah Cochran (Gautier; Covenant Christian Academy) led the pack for the Wildcats, finishing tied for 23rd overall. Both shot 76 in the opening round and followed it up with a 78 in round two, finishing 10-over for the tournament.

William Dickerson (Gautier) was the next-best finisher for the Wildcats, earning 47th place. He was 12-over after the opening round before improving by five strokes to 7-over.

Henry Ros (Pascagoula) took home 50th place by shooting 10-over in both rounds.

Bo Ashley (Purvis) shot just 8-over on day one but had a rough outing in the second round with 14-over. He finished in 53rd place in the tournament.
