POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River goalkeeper Maddux Francis (Poplarville) has seen himself receive award after award throughout the duration of the 2021 season. He can now add another award to his collection after being selected as the NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this year.
Francis lands the award after being perfect between the posts last week for Pearl River (11-0-2 overall), collecting shutouts against Meridian and Copiah-Lincoln.
In the 2-0 win over Meridian, Francis turned away all three shots that came his way. He also saved five shots in the Wildcats 4-0 defeat of Copiah-Lincoln.
The goalkeeper has tallied 44 saves and just three goals allowed this season.
In addition to his two NJCAA honors, he has claimed four MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week awards.
Pearl River teammate Andre Nicholson (Kingston, Jamaica.; Clarendon College) took home the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week award just one week ago.
