Pearl River soccer announces 2023 campaigns

POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The Pearl River men's and women's soccer teams announced their 2022 schedules on July 19. Pearl River men's coach Drew Gallant's squad will have nine home dates, and Henrik Madsen's women's squad has seven home contests scheduled.  

MEN'S SOCCER
The PRCC men's program will look to get back to the national tournament after falling just short of a return trip in 2022 with a loss in the Gulf District finals.
The Wildcats will kickoff 2023 with an Alumni Game on Aug. 4. PRCC will follow with a home exhibition match against Delta State on Aug. 12. Pearl River will host Gulf Coast, East Central and Southwest in an exhibition tournament on Aug. 14 before hitting the road for the remainder of August.
The Wildcats will travel to Texarkana, Ark., to face Cossatot and National Park on Aug. 18 and Aug. 19, respectively. PRCC will play at Mississippi College on Aug. 22 and Spring Hill on Aug. 25. Pearl River will close out August with a non-conference match at Hinds on Aug. 30.
PRCC will open September with a non-conference matchup against Southwest on Sept. 1 and will host the University of Mobile JV squad on Sept. 8 for the final non-conference match of the season.  
The River opens up MACCC play with a home contest against rival Gulf Coast on Sept. 15. The Wildcats split with the Bulldogs in 2022, dropping the regular season match but then pulled out a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the NJCAA Gulf South District Tournament semifinal.
Pearl River will follow with a trip to Scooba to take on the newly resurrected East Mississippi soccer team on Sept. 19. The Wildcats will return home on Sept. 22 to host Hinds before hitting the road for back-to-back road games. The River will travel Fulton to face Itawamba on Sept. 26 and will visit Holmes on Sept. 29.
The Wildcats will open October at home on Oct. 3 against Southwest before making the short trip to Ellisville on Oct. 6 to take on Jones in the annual "Cat Fight".  PRCC will travel to Meridian on Oct. 13 before heading home on Oct. 17 to host East Central.
Pearl River will travel to Wesson to face Copiah-Lincoln on Oct. 20 before returning home on Oct. 24 to host Sophomore Night against Northwest.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
The PRCC women's soccer team is looking to build on its 2022 Gulf District Semifinal appearance. The Wildcats ended the 2022 regular season with a 7-0-1 run heading into the Region 23 Tournament.
PRCC will open 2023 with an exhibition against Southern Miss on Aug. 4. The Wildcats will remain home on Aug. 8 to play in an exhibition against Pensacola State. Pearl River will become road warriors for the remainder of August. The Wildcats will travel to Texarkana to face Cassatot on Aug. 18 and National Park on Aug. 19. They will return to Mississippi on Aug. 22 when they visit Gulf Coast for a non-conference matchup, and Pearl River will follow with a trip to Clinton to play Mississippi College on Aug. 25.
The Wildcats will open September with a non-conference road contest against Southwest on Sept. 1. Pearl River plays Gordon State on Sept. 3, location to be determined, and will travel to Columbia State on Sept. 10 for the final tune-up heading into conference play.
Pearl River will open conference play against rival Gulf Coast on Sept. 15 and travel to Scooba to take on East Mississippi on Sept. 19. The Wildcats will host Hinds on Sept. 22 before hitting the road for games against Itawamba and Holmes on Sept. 26 and Sept. 29, respectively.
PRCC returns home on Oct. 3 to take on Southwest before another two-game road trip. The Wildcats will travel to Ellisville on Oct. 6 for the annual "Cat Fight" against Jones and will visit Meridian on Oct. 13. Pearl River will host East Central on Oct. 17 and follow with a trip to Wesson on Oct. 20 to face Copiah-Lincoln.
The Wildcats will host Sophomore Night and close the regular season with a big matchup against Northwest on Oct. 24.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
The Pearl River men's team finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 12-4-1 and a 7-2-1 conference record. The Wildcats were ranked for 11 consecutive weeks in the NJCAA national rankings, ranking as high as fourth in the nation during the season. PRCC returns 2022 All-MACCC First Team member Christopher Dommer (Copenhagen, Denmark).  
The women's soccer team finished 2022 with a 14-2-2 overall record and 7-1-2 in the MACCC. Pearl River was ranked as high as ninth in the nation and lost a heartbreaker to Holmes in the Gulf District Semifinal. The Wildcats return First Team All-MACCC defender Mckenzie Winters (Ocean Springs).
