POPLARVILLE, Miss. — A trio of first-half goals was too much for the Pearl River men's soccer to overcome Friday evening as the Wildcats fell to archrival Gulf Coast, 4-1.

RECAP
Gulf Coast (3-1-2 overall; 1-0 MACCC) bagged its first goal in the 16th minute of the match on an incredible shot from a distance. Three minutes later, the Bulldogs cashed in once again as a midfielder finished a cross into the box.

MGCCC made it a three-goal cushion in the 35th minute as a ball in front of the goal was tapped home.

Pearl River (1-4; 0-1) developed a chance in the 41st minute as Christopher Dommer (Copenhagen, Denmark; Øregård Gymnasium) stole the ball away and unleashed a shot from deep that sailed just high and out of bounds.

PRCC's halftime adjustments seemed to work right out of the break as the Wildcats dominated possession in the first few minutes. Pearl River earned a corner kick opportunity in the 51st minute. When the ball was played into the box, Tiago Honorio Jr. (São Paulo, Brazil; Zacarias Antônio da Silva) rose high above all the defenders and headed the ball into the back of the net with authority, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

Gulf Coast padded its lead in the 85th minute to put the game to rest.
