Pearl River rodeo turns in great performance at UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark. —  The Pearl River rodeo team turned in one of its best all-around performances of the season last week at the Arkansas-Monticello rodeo. The men's team finished in third place and the women's team finished in fifth.

Jeb Stewart (Lucedale) took home fifth place in calf roping after times of 10.2 and 10.4.

One of Pearl River's best events of the weekend was team roping. Mason Theriot (Poplarville) and former Wildcat Chase Graves (Poplarville) teamed up to take home first place, finishing both rounds with a 7.1. Stewart and Blake Lyons (Ethel, La.) finished just over one second behind them to grab second place. Molli Rae Kinchen (Tickfaw, La.; Ponchatoula) and Roper Stoots (Louisville) rounded out the group with a third-place finish.

In barrel racing, Mary Grayson Martin (Rolling Fork; Sharquey-Issaquena) placed sixth overall.

Will Smith (Poplarville) grabbed third place in bull riding.
