Pearl River women earn second place at Murray State rodeo

MURRAY, Ky. — Pearl River rodeo concluded the fall season with another fantastic showing as the women's team snatched second place with 335 points.

The men's team earned 195 points to earn the seventh position.

WEEKEND RECAP
Pearl River showed out in breakaway roping, placing three competitors in the shortgo round.

Kate Eiland (Kentwood, La.) added yet another first-place finish to her collection so far this season. She grabbed a 2.2 in her first run and followed it up with a 2.7 in the second to earn 175 points for the Wildcats.

Karrigan Cagley (Kentwood, La.; Grace Christian Academy) finished fourth in the event to earn 85 points. She had runs of 2.8 and 3.6, respectively.

Sydney Poole (Robertsdale, Ala.) made it to the shortgo but could not register a time in the first or second run.

Eiland also made it to the shortgo round in goat tying but couldn't register a time.

Trenton Davis (Poplarville) grabbed sixth place in calf roping, following an average of 34.2 across his two runs.

Evan Bourdon (Sheridan, Ind.) took home fifth place in steer wrestling with an average of 12.3.

Trevor Delee (Saint Francisville, La.) and Jake White collected 10 points after finishing with an average of 24.7 in team roping.

Blake Lyons (Ethel, La.; Silliman Institute) and West Alabama's Gordon Clarke finished with an average of 22.6 to collect 50 points.

Trevor Roberts (Beaumont) and Jacob Perry (Pelahatchie) earned a spot in the short go but earned no points.

Pearl River returns to action on March 7 at the East Mississippi Rodeo and will host its annual rodeo on March 21. More information about the Pearl River rodeo will be available in the spring.
