Pearl River rodeo returns to form at Arkansas Tech

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — After a rough start to the year, the Pearl River rodeo team got back going in its first rodeo of the spring. The men's team finished fourth with 345 points and the women's team finished third with 180.

MEN'S RESULTS

Jake White (Albany, La.; Holden School) earned a place in the championship round by grabbing a first-round time of 6.7 seconds in steer wrestling. Unfortunately, he didn't register a time in his second ride.

Pearl River excelled in team roping with three athletes placing. The team of Trevor DeLee (Saint Francisville, La.) and White tied for second place, earning 100 points. The duo had a time of 8.1 seconds in the opening round and followed it up with a time of 7.1 seconds in the second. 

Trenton Davis (Poplarville) teamed up with Tennessee-Martin's Kolby Krieger grabbed first place for the weekend. They had blazing times of 7.7 seconds and five seconds, respectively.

WOMEN'S RESULTS
Pearl River's Kate Eiland (Kentwood, La.) crushed the competition in breakaway roping, taking home first place. The sophomore had a time of 1.8 seconds and two seconds.

The Wildcats get back to action Thursday March 13-15 at the East Mississippi Rodeo in Meridian.
