Pearl River softball brings in LSU Alexandria transfer

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River softball team has added its final piece for its 2024 Championship pursuit, inking the signature of LSU Alexandria transfer Madelyn Bourgoyne.

"Our family is excited about Madelyn joining us in the spring," head coach Christie Meeks said. "She brings great range on the field and good speed on the bases. We believe she will bring even more grit to our team this year."

A middle infielder, Bourgoyne saw action in 29 games for the Generals, drawing 27 starts. She finished the 2023 campaign with a .192 batting average, 11 RBIs, two doubles and one triple. She also drew five walks over the course of the year.

Defensively, she finished the year with an .849 fielding percentage as the everyday shortstop, tallying 35 putouts and 72 assists.

Prior to joining LSUA, Bourgoyne was teammates with fellow Wildcat Lainee Bailey (Walker, La.) at Walker. While at Walker, Bourgoyne helped lead the team to District Championships from 2019-2022. The Wildcats were Louisiana Semifinalists in 2019 and 2021.

Bourgoyne was named to The Livingston Parish News' Area All-District softball team after her senior season. In 2019, she was named to The Advocate's All-District team.
