Pearl River softball reveals 2024 schedule

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River softball coach Christie Meeks announced the 2024 softball schedule on Tuesday. Looking to build on the 2023 campaign that saw the Wildcats with a perfect home record and end the year ranked No. 9 in the nation, Pearl River will host 14 home contests, including series against rival Jones and Gulf Coast. 

NON-CONFERENCE
The Wildcats will open the 2024 season on the road at the Galveston Tournament in Galveston, Texas on Jan. 26-27. PRCC will play a triple header on the tournament's first day, Jan. 26, against Blinn, Alvin and Butler. On day two, Jan. 27, the Wildcats will take on host Galveston and Navarro. 

Pearl River will hold its home opener on Jan. 30 against Lurleen B. Wallace. PRCC will recognize the 2024 sophomores before the first game of the day. 

PRCC will play Angelina and Pratt in the Bullets Tournament on Feb. 3 in Youngsville, La.  

The Wildcats will host Dillard  on Feb. 6 for the first of a five-game homestand. PRCC will face Snead State on Feb. 8 and LSU-Eunice on Feb. 13. Lamar State will visit Wildcat Stadium on Feb. 14, and Pearl River will close the homestand against Parkland on Feb. 20. 

Pearl River heads to the Hinds JUCO Classic in Vicksburg on Feb. 23. Opponents for the tournament are still to be determined.

The Wildcats open March at home against Pensacola State on March 1 and travel to the University of Mobile on March 5 to play Enterprise State.

CONFERENCE
The River will open MACCC play at home against Northeast on March 9 before traveling to Summit to face Southwest on March 13. The Wildcats will return to Wildcat Stadium to face Mississippi Delta on March 15 and Meridian on March 19. PRCC will hit the road for back-to-back contests against Itawamba on March 23 and Hinds on March 26. Pearl River will close out March, hosting Holmes on March 29. 

PRCC opens April at home against Copiah-Lincoln on April 3 and travels to Scooba to face East Mississippi on April 6. The Wildcats host rival Gulf Coast April 9 before hitting the road for back-to-back road series against Coahoma on April 13 and East Central on April 17. 

Pearl River will play Northwest-Shoals in a non-conference series at the Mississippi University for Women April 19 before returning home to host rival Jones College on April 24. PRCC will conclude the regular season on the road at Northwest on April 27. 

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats are coming off a 2023 campaign that saw the team finish with an unblemished 20-0 record at home and reach a season-high win total of 43. Pearl River will look to returning 2023 All-Region 23 Team members Natalie Herrington (Petal) and Morgan Lavergne (Baton Rouge; Central) to continue to build on the foundation laid last season. Herrington recently signed with Southern Miss and Lavergne signed with Mississippi College.
