POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The weekly awards were announced by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Tuesday afternoon, and No. 14 Pearl River's Ana-Grace Garcia (Baton Rouge, La.; St. Joseph's) was named Pitcher of the Week.
With the selection, Pearl River swept the weekly awards as Natalee Eaves (Louisville; Choctaw Central) was named MACCC Player of the Week.
Garcia was electric in the circle for Pearl River last week, going 2-0 with a minuscule 0.70 ERA across 10 innings pitched. The right-hander struck out 17 batters, allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks. She started the week with a five-inning outing against Meridian, allowing one run and striking out 10 batters. She wrapped things up with five shutout innings against Itawamba, scattering three hits and two walks while punching out seven.
Garcia has appeared in 19 contests this season with 14 starts. She holds an 11-3 record and a 3.01 ERA. Through 88 1/3 innings, she's struck out 115 batters and has a WHIP of 1.17.
