No. 14 Pearl River's Natasha Barnes named MACCC Player of the Week

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — An incredible effort on the basketball court by Pearl River women's basketball's Natasha Barnes (Chicago, Ill.; Kenwood Academy) has earned the guard the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week award.

Barnes had her best week as a Wildcat, helping lead Pearl River to a flawless 2-0 week. She started the week by going on the road and scoring a season-high 21 points against Holmes. In the contest, she shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, hauled in seven rebounds and tallied three steals. She followed it up by scoring 17 points in a home victory over Jones College. She shot 4-for-7 on her 3-pointers and tallied six rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

For the week, she averaged 19 points, 6.5 rebounds, three steals and 1.5 assists. She had an incredible 53.8 percent showing from the field and an even better 61.5 percent from beyond the arc.

On the season, Barnes is third on the team in points per game with a mark of 8.1. Additionally, she is averaging 2.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 assists.

The Wildcats close out the regular season Thursday with an important matchup against Northeast. With a victory, PRCC clinches the MACCC Championship. Tipoff inside Marvin R. White Coliseum is set for 5:30 p.m.
