MERIDIAN, Miss. — The Pearl River women's golf team had its best showing of the season at the Jim Redgate Invitational hosted by Meridian, shooting 294-over for the tournament.
"The women had a great showing. They improved a lot and have improved over the last three tournaments," head coach Coby Scarborough said. "We had our first player break 100. Each girl has gotten better each tournament. We still have a long way to go, but they know they can compete now. The more they do it, the more comfortable they are getting."
Maya Morelos (Grambling, La.; Ruston) was PRCC's best finisher, earning eighth place with a score of 55-over. She was consistent over the two days, shooting 28-over and 27-over, respectively.
Elizabeth Purvis (Carriere; Pearl River Central) took 12th place with a score of 73-over. She was 37-over and 36-over between the rounds.
Gracie Allgood (Laurel; West Jones) finished in 13th place with a score of 74-over. She shot 39-over before improving to 35-over on day two.
Lilian Sanzin (Saucier; Harrison Central) was 14th after finishing 93 over, and Courtney Brewer (Petal) rounded out the Wildcats at 94-over.
