RAYMOND, Miss. — The No. 13 Pearl River women's soccer team cruised past Hinds 3-0 on Friday evening to win its fourth straight match. The victory was also Pearl River's fourth straight shutout.

"Not a bad day at all. No goals allowed and then getting three goals on the offensive side," Pearl River coach Henrik Madsen said. "As strong as our conference is, it's incredible if you can go four games without conceding a goal. It shows a lot about our consistency on defense and how they play as a unit."

Pearl River (10-1-1 overall; 5-1-1 MACCC) had chance after chance to open the match with the first coming in just the 2nd minute of the evening. Freshman striker Ann Maris Ragan (Flowood; Hartfield Academy) took aim at the goal and laced a shot, but the Hinds (0-8-1; 0-5-1) goalkeeper caught the ball.

The Wildcats had another scoring chance midway through the first half. Sydney Spataro (Long Beach) plucked a pass away in the midfield and passed off to Adele Mooney (Lafayette, La.; Ascension Episcopal) on the right side of the pitch. Mooney knocked the ball into the box but no one was able to track it down as it rolled out of play.

In the 27th minute, Jess Harrison (Gulfport; St. Patrick) was fed a ball and had a one-on-one opportunity with the Hinds keeper. As she loaded up to take her shot, the goalkeeper dove in front to block the shot attempt and put an end to the threat.

Harrison finally PRCC on the board in the 37th minute, smacking a ball into the back of the net to give PRCC a 1-0 advantage.

Not long into the second half of play, Harrison collected a brace. Katie Havard (Hurley; East Central) sent a cross into the box and Harrison rushed forward to forcefully head it home to make the score 2-0.

Makenzie Winters (Ocean Springs) nearly added a third goal in the 70th minute. PRCC was awarded a corner kick and opted to play it short to the Wildcat defender. She stepped forward and booted a shot toward the goal, but it sailed just above the crossbar and out of bounds.

The Wildcats had another scoring chance as a Jenny Satcher (Hattiesburg) shot attempt deflected out to Spataro who tapped it home, but the midfielder was ruled offside.

Mooney added to the scoring in the 86th minute. The sophomore was fed a pass, turned and smashed a shot past the diving HCC goalkeeper at the near post.

The 3-0 advantage was all PRCC needed as it cruised to victory.
