No. 8 Pearl River cruises past East Mississippi

SCOOBA, Miss. — The eighth-ranked Pearl River women's soccer team was scoring goals in rapid fashion Tuesday night as the Wildcats cruised past the Lions, 13-0.

"It's always nice to see everyone getting on the field and everyone playing major minutes," head coach Henrik Madsen said. "We had several different goal scorers which was great, too. The girls moved the ball nicely and scored some really nice goals."

"We were first to the ball a lot of the time, which didn't allow them to get out of their half. The girls were good about moving the ball and moving off the ball to make it difficult for them."

MATCH RECAP
In just her second match back from injury, Adele Mooney (Lafayette, La.; Ascension Episcopal) got on the scoresheet for the first time in the 4th minute for Pearl River (6-1 overall; 2-0 MACCC). Frederikke Nielsen (Spentrup, Denmark; Randers Statsskole) got the play started as she dribbled inside and passed off to Mooney in the middle for the goal.

In the sixth minute, PRCC doubled its advantage. After earning a corner kick opportunity, Chloe Ezell (Ocean Springs) delivered a great ball into the box that found Camdyn Biancamano (Long Beach). Biancamano quickly slashed the shot into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal, 2-0.

Emily Taylor (Laurel; Homeschool) used her pace to add PRCC's third goal of the day. The freshman dashed past the Lion backline and fired a shot toward the goal. A save by the EMCC (0-5-1; 0-2) keeper rebounded out to Taylor, who finished it for good, 3-0.

Ann Maris Ragan (Flowood; Hartfield Academy) made it a 4-0 match in the 27th minute as Marieke Faber (Britsum, Netherlands; Leeuwarder Lyceum) passed off to her for the goal.

In the 30th and 32nd minutes, Faber turned from provider to scorer as she netted a pair of goals to move the Wildcats ahead 6-0.

Normally found making plays on defense, Anna Grace Deakle (Gulfport) joined in on the scoring fun in the 39th minute. Taylor passed off to Deakle, who sent a shot flying toward goal. The EMCC goalkeeper got a hand on the ball, but it got past her and went into the net. Taylor picked up her second assist just one minute later as she found Alli Shemper (Biloxi) for a goal, 8-0.

Jessica Lawrence (Ocean Springs) played in her second match since recovering from ACL surgery and made the most of the opportunity, scoring her first goal in the maroon and gold in the 48th minute, 9-0.

"It's been a long road back for Jess from the ACL injury," Madsen said. "It's so good to see her contribute in a positive way."

The 61st minute saw Ezell earn a goal. PRCC was awarded a free kick, and Ezell finished off the delivery into the box by Nielsen to make it a 10-0 match.

Nielsen added a goal to accompany her two assists in the 73rd minute. She broke through and found herself in a one-versus-one opportunity with the goalkeeper. She quickly pushed a shot to the right side of the goal and into the net, 11-0.

Amélie Wittenkamp (Oelstykke, Denmark; Egedal Gymnasium) added the 12th goal of the evening in the 81st minute when she headed home a Maddie Cuevas (Kiln; Hancock) corner kick.

Shemper earned her brace and capped the scoring in the 87th minute with the help of a Camryn Aldous (Petal) assist, 13-0.
