3 Pearl River women's soccer standouts named All-MACCC

POPLARVILLE, Miss. —  The All-MACCC teams have been announced, and the Pearl River women's soccer team has taken home a trio of selections.

Mackenzie Winters (Ocean Springs) earned First Team. Frederikke Nielsen (Spentrup, Denmark; Randers Statsskole) and Amélie Wittenkamp (Oelstykke, Denmark; Egedal Gymnasium) snatched a Second Team designation.

Winters also earned a spot on the All-Region 23 Team with her First Team selection.

MACKENZIE WINTERS
For a second consecutive season, Winters has earned a First Team All-Conference honor as one of the best centerbacks in the MACCC.

All year long, Winters used her blazing speed to help the Wildcats hold a goals-against average of just 1.04. Winters' defensive abilities helped Pearl River collect 10 clean sheets on the year.

"She's been a fantastic player for us," head coach Henrik Madsen said. "She made First Team All-Conference last year and did it again this year. Hopefully, she has a chance to make All-American this year and will play at a four-year school. She's extremely solid at the back of the formation."

FREDERIKKE NIELSEN
Nielsen made a big impact as a freshman for the Wildcats, seeing time in the midfield and at the top of the formation as a striker.

She finished the 2023 campaign second in goals and assists with 11 and five, respectively.

"She came in and made a big impact with some important goals and assists this season," Madsen said. "She did a good job of developing as the year moved along and was a really important player in our run to the Region Final."

AMÉLIE WITTENKAMP
Wittenkamp was another important player for the Wildcats, contributing both as a lockdown defender and a goal-scoring threat. Wittenkamp was often found alongside Winters at the back of the formation to begin the season, helping the Wildcats to 10 clean sheets and a 1.04 goals-against average.

She also saw time in the midfield and bagged six goals and one assist throughout the year.

"Amélie made a big impact as a freshman," Madsen said. "She's good enough to play on the backline or in the midfield and have an impact at either place. She's got to come in and improve and take over for Mackenzie in the back."
