Pearl River volleyball announces 2021 schedule

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River volleyball coach Haley Chatham has finalized her 2021 schedule, hitting the road for 21 matches and hosting nine in Shivers Gymnasium. 

The Wildcats will play teams from Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri and Florida to fill out their 30 match schedule. 

2021 SCHEDULE 
The Wildcats begin the season with a five-match road trip, playing at Northwest on Aug. 19. Pearl River then travels to Pensacola to take on Pensacola Christian and Coastal Alabama–East on Aug. 24.

PRCC will compete in the Bishop State Tournament on Aug. 27 and 28 before they return home for the first time to host Louisiana College on Aug. 30 and Lawson State on Sept 2. 

Following a road match at Bevill State on Sept. 7, the Wildcats host Bishop State on Sept. 10 and Northwest on Sept. 14. 

Pearl River will take part in the Itawamba Tournament on Sept. 17 and 18, facing Gadsden State, Andrew College, Snead State and St. Louis. 

PRCC travels to Louisiana College on Sept. 20 and Coastal Alabama–South on Sept. 22. 

The Wildcats will round out the month of September by hosting MACCC rival Itawamba on Sept. 24 before hitting the road to take on Lawson State on Sept. 29. 

PRCC opens the new month by hosting Bevill State on Oct. 2 and Coastal Alabama-East on Oct. 4. They will be on the road again on Oct. 6 against Bishop State. 

Pearl River hosts Division III foe Mississippi University for Women on Oct. 8 then travels to Senatobia to take on Champion Christian College and Northwest on Oct 12. 

The Wildcats will travel to take on Lurleen B. Wallace and Bevill State on Oct. 16 before returning to Shivers Gymnasium for the last time to host Pensacola Christian on Oct. 19. 

Pearl River closes out the 2021 season with a three-match road trip facing Itawamba on Oct. 22 before taking onWallace State and Mississippi University for Women on Oct. 25. 

ABOUT THE WILDCATS 
Pearl River is just a few months removed from a successful 2020-21 campaign, finishing with a record of 16-10 and making a very deep run into the ACCC tournament.  

PRCC returns a number of impact players including outside hitter Diamond Jones (Gonzalez, La.; East Ascension), who finished tops in the NJCAA in kills-per-set with 4.92, and Avery Beth Durdin (Olive Branch; Lewisburg) who finished 11th in the nation in service aces per set with 0.54.
