Pearl River's Abbie Franks tabbed Defensive Player of the Week by MACCC

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — For a second week in a row, the Pearl River volleyball program has grabbed an award. The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced Tuesday that sophomore middle blocker Abbie Franks (Ocean Springs) was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

The selection makes three for the Wildcats in just the season's second week. Last week, Natalie Bartholomew (Brandon) earned Offensive Player of the Week and Lauren McLamore (Brandon) took home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The award comes for Franks after being instrumental in Pearl River's flawless week against Coastal Alabama - South, Gadsden State and Mississippi University for Women. Across the three matches, Franks picked up three solo blocks and three block assists. She added in three digs as well. On the offensive side, she racked up nine kills and two assists.

Through four games in 2023, Franks has 15 kills, seven total blocks, three digs and two assists.
