PRCC volleyball earns pair of All-MACCC selection

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference recently announced its first-ever volleyball All-Conference teams, and a pair of Pearl River volleyball athletes earned selections.

Freshman middle blocker Morgan Mears (Hurley; East Central) was named First Team, and sophomore setter Madison Butler (Biloxi; D'Iberville) took home Honorable Mention.

MORGAN MEARS
Mears had a freshman year to remember during the 2024 season, as she was near the top of PRCC's team in nearly every category. She was first in block assists (83), first in total blocks (94), second in solo blocks (11), third in kills (270), third in kills per set (1.94) and fifth in service aces (26). She also chipped in 116 digs and 23 assists on the campaign.

She took home MACCC Offensive Player of the Week once on the year.

"Morgan Mears was the cornerstone in our successes, a dominant middle block whose impact was felt on both offense and defense. She not only controlled the net but created space for our pin hitters to shine, making her a constant threat," head coach Haley Chatham said. "With the heart of a true competitor and the leadership to match, Morgan's presence on the court was unmatched — she made every point count and every play possible."

MADISON BUTLER
Butler's sophomore campaign was special from start to finish, racking up a new single-season program record 632 assists from her setter position. Additionally, she was second on the team in digs and service aces, with 361 and 33, respectively.

The sophomore also added in 38 kills on the year.

"Madison Butler is the ultimate competitor — an unshakeable setter who always finds a way to get the ball where it needs to be," Chatham said. "Her quick decisions and sharp instincts created perfect matchups for our offense, while her relentless defense never let a ball hit the floor without a fight. Madison was the heartbeat of our team, an energy force who brought grit and determination to every play. She's the definition of a solider — never backing down, always fighting for the win."
