Pearl River volleyball's Madison Butler signs with Belhaven

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River volleyball's Madison Butler (Biloxi; D'Iberville) saw four-year dreams come true Thursday afternoon as the sophomore signed to continue her career at Belhaven.

"We are so thankful to have had Madison as a leader in our program over the last two years," head coach Haley Chatham said. "I have known Madison in the volleyball world since she was 14. She has become the heart of every team she's been part of over the years. She certainly was the heart of ours, and I have no doubt she will go on and do the same for the Blazers.

"She has a competitive edge about her that you don't find often — she is always giving 100 percent and has that go hard or go home attitude. Any team is lucky to have her, and we can't wait to watch her take charge next season."

Butler talked about what made Belhaven the right fit.

"Once I was on campus, visited with the girls and had meetings with the coach, I knew it was the right place," she said. "It's just a really good fit for me."

She also talked about her time as a Wildcat.

"Coach Chatham and the girls I have been with the last two years had such a positive impact on my experience here," Butler said. "This program shaped me into a leader and the woman that I am today. I learned a lot and loved my time here."

Butler had a season for the records book as a sophomore, finishing with a single-season record of 632 assists from her setter position. She had one contest this season with 28 assists in a match, tying for fifth place in single-match assists. She tacked on 33 service aces on the year and was second on the team in digs with 361.

Butler wraps up her two-year career at The River with 753 assists — good enough for fourth in program history. She also tallied 437 digs and 39 service aces.
