Pearl River cheer's Mallori Watkins signs with Western Kentucky

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The back-to-back UCA National Champion Pearl River cheer team had another reason to celebrate Monday evening as sophomore Mallori Watkins (Picayune) signed with Western Kentucky.

"I am so proud of Mallori for signing to cheer at Western Kentucky University. WKU is one of the best cheer programs in the nation," Pearl River coach Sarah Smith said. "Mallori is extremely talented and likely could have cheered anywhere right out of high school, but she chose Pearl River. I know that her choice heavily impacted the success that we have had these last two years. I am grateful she committed her time and talent to PRCC, but I couldn't be more thrilled to see her move on. I am certain she will represent us well as she continues cheering at WKU."

Watkins talked about her time at Pearl River and what it meant to her.

"Pearl River was a huge stepping stone in being able to go to a program like Western Kentucky," she said. "I knew that coach Sarah was going to push us and wanted us to compete at the national level. Without this program and the lessons and skills learned here, I wouldn't be going where I am.

RING CEREMONY
After the signing ceremony, the Wildcats held a ceremony for the unveiling of their 2023 National Championship rings.
