Pearl River calls on familiar face with assistant coach hire

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River head football coach Seth Smith named former Wildcat defensive back standout Sirvares Snow wide receivers coach for the 2024 season.

Snow, a native of Newton, joins Smith's staff full-time after spending the 2023 season on the PRCC staff as a graduate assistant. His duties as a graduate assistant included helping defensive backs coach Ta'Ron Sims with the position group.

"We are extremely excited about Coach Snow joining our staff. He was an excellent player in high school and in college." Pearl River head coach Seth Smith said. "Coach Snow has a radiant personality, is a fantastic communicator, and will bring energy and passion to the position on the field and in recruiting.

"He takes a tremendous amount of pride in developing young men, so with his content knowledge along with his passion and work ethic, this was a win-win hire for us."

PLAYING CAREER
Snow arrived at PRCC from Newton High School after a standout career as a defensive back and wide receiver. He appeared in 17 games during his two years at The River, recording 69 total tackles, 10 pass breakups and two interceptions.

"It is a great feeling coming back to where I started and helping coach Smith and the rest of the staff," Snow said. "I look forward to working with the players and teaching them the JUCO way, how to thrive and survive at the junior college level.

"Learning under coach Smith has been awesome, learning how he is assertive for certain things and how meticulous he is about the little things. I am also excited to learn under coach Boykin. As young as I am — learning his offense and what he brings to the table will be beneficial. He has a specialty in receivers, too. It is super exciting."

Following his playing career at Pearl River, Snow transferred to Delta State. Snow appeared in 22 games at Delta State, where he compiled 51 total tackles, 14 passes defended and one interception.

EDUCATION
Snow earned an Associate of Arts degree from PRCC in 2020 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Delta State in 2021. He completed a Master of Science in human and sports performance with a concentration in Exercise Science in 2023.
