POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River football's Ian González's (Mexico City, Mexico; St. Stanislaus) first career start was one for the record books and his efforts have been rewarded with the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference's Offensive Player of the Week award.
González was electric in PRCC's contest against Copiah-Lincoln. The quarterback did an incredible amount of damage on the ground against the Wolves, registering 32 carries for 238 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he went 8-for-17 through the air for 67 yards and a touchdown.
He was the first Wildcat to eclipse the 200-yard rushing mark since Tony Brown accomplished the feat in 2021 with 229 yards against Holmes. His 238 rushing yards moved him into second place all-time for rushing yards in a game, trailing Mike Toefield's 264 yards.
On the year, González has played in three games and ranks second on the team in rushing yards with 390 on 55 attempts. He has tallied a pair of touchdowns and averages 7.1 yards per carry. In the passing game, he is 25-for-41 for 177 yards and a touchdown.
