Pearl River football getting back to South Division play

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — A week after an emotional come-from-behind victory over East Mississippi, the Pearl River football team will get back to South Division action Thursday night as it travels to Hinds for its final road contest of the year.

The Wildcats snapped a 16-year skid against their North Division foe, fighting back from 25-12 to earn a 32-28 victory. It was the first since 2008. The teams had not played since 2019. PRCC will look to snap another skid Thursday night as it has dropped the last seven to Hinds.

Kickoff in Raymond is set for 7 p.m. Hinds does not accept cash at the ticket gate. All tickets should be purchased online in advance at https://shorturl.at/BqLvm. Ticket prices increase if purchased at the gate. 

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Reigning MACCC Player of the Week, Kabe Barnett (Hattiesburg; Oak Grove), leads the PRCC passing attack this season. The quarterback has completed 57 of 105 passes this season for 593 yards and four touchdowns. Additionally, he's third on the team in rushing yards with 247 and two touchdowns.

Keenan Franks (State Line; Greene County) leads the pack in the ground game. The freshman has tallied 87 carries for 465 yards and three touchdowns on the year. 

PRCC's top receiving threat on the year is Howard Kinchen (Lafayette, La.; Patterson), who leads the team in catches and yards with 19 and 207, respectively. Javonta Caldwell (Laurel) is second on the team with 15 catches and 145 yards.

Travis Bendolph Jr. (Mobile, Ala.; Theodore) leads the team in tackles with 48. He's also tallied 1.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss. His eight TFLs are second on the team. Linebacker Amarion Tyson (Picayune) is second on the team in tackles with 45 but leads the team in tackles for loss with 11.5. Additionally, he has two pass breakups and one forced fumble.

SCOUTING HINDS
Hinds enters the contest off a short week after falling to Southwest 34-20 Saturday as part of SMCC's Homecoming festivities.

The Eagles have played two quarterbacks this season in Jabari Watson and Nassir Donohoo. Watson is 41-for-95 for 436 yards and five touchdowns. Donohoo is 29-for-61 for 410 yards and two touchdowns. The pair combined for nine interceptions during the year.

HCC has two running backs that have eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the year. Julius Bradley has 71 carries for 199 yards, and Ja'Marian Johnson has 37 attempts for 131 yards.

Tyrell Pollard is HCC's top receiving threat, leading the team in catches (21), receiving yards (307) and touchdowns (3). TD Vaughn is second with 148 yards and 11 catches. He's scored one touchdown.

William Harry leads the Eagles in tackles and tackles for loss with 46 and 5.5, respectively. Walter Owens is second on the team with 41 tackles. He leads the team in interceptions with two.
