POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The Pearl River football team announced the addition of 25 high school standouts on National Signing Day as it looks to continue moving the needle forward.
"We're extremely excited about the 2025 class. Last year, we took great strides heading in the right direction on the field, and with so many returners coming back, we felt it was imperative to make sure we signed a strong class that could come in and have an immediate impact," head coach Seth Smith said. "We are confident that we checked every box with this class. This league is so competitive that every box must be checked — offense, defense and special teams. That's exactly what we tried to do. We are excited about our newest family members and are even more excited about getting them here this summer and getting to work.
"Offensively, coach (David) Chatham brought in some big, lengthy guys to help us up front," Smith said. "Coach (David) Boykin and coach (AJ) Davis did a tremendous job of adding explosive, impact guys to our skill room. Defensively, coach (Ta'Ron) Sims did what he always does and brought in an extremely talented secondary group. Coach (Ty) Trahan didn't have to bring in as many guys to our linebacker and defensive line group because of the number of returners, but those that he and coach (Lorenzo) Breland did add are day one contributors."
