PRCC's Brinson Anne Rogers becomes two-time All-American

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Since her arrival at Pearl River, Brinson Anne Rogers (Statesboro, Ga.) has done nothing but rewrite the records book. The right-handed pitcher can add one more record to her impressive list as the National Junior College Athletic Association announced Tuesday that Rogers was named Second Team All-America.

She becomes the first two-time winner in program history.

"Wow, that's amazing," Pearl River coach Christie Meeks said. "Brinson pushed the limits and set the bar so high here. I am so proud of everything that she has accomplished. Two-time All-America is such a great honor, and she has definitely earned it. We could not be prouder of her."

A SEASON TO REMEMBER
It wasn't going to be easy for Rogers to replicate her dominant freshman season, but she picked up right where she left off. As the pitching staff's ace, Rogers went 20-4 with 18 complete games. Across 160 1/3 innings pitched, she had an earned run average of 1.05, which ranked third-best in the NJCAA. She also racked up 267 strikeouts, placing her fourth nationally. She ended the year with a batting average against of just .130 and a WHIP of .700.

Rogers picked up a pair of no-hitters on the season, with the first coming against archrival Gulf Coast and the second coming in the Region 23 Tournament opener against Northeast. During the season, she had 16 games where she struck out double-digit batters.

Rogers has already been named First Team All-MACCC, MACCC Pitcher of the Year, All-Region 23, NFCA All-South Region and NFCA All-America.

FILLING THE RECORDS BOOK
Rogers closes the book on her Pearl River career as the most dominant pitcher in program history. She finished first all-time in career strikeouts with 566 and her single-season marks of 299 and 267 are first and second, respectively. Rogers takes up the first 16 spots in the records book for strikeouts in a game with a career-best of 19 in a victory over Pensacola State in 2022. She collected 31 double-digit strikeout games in her career.

Her 160 1/3 innings in 2023 and 156 1/3 innings in 2022 occupy the fourth and fifth positions.

In terms of ERA, Rogers is first and second all-time in ERA with marks of 0.94 and 1.05. For her career, her ERA stands at 0.99.

PREVIOUS ALL-AMERICANS
Rogers' selection grows the PRCC All-America selections list to five, joining Brandi Tynes (First Team; 2002), Megan Dawson (First Team; 2004), Mary Grace Turner (Third Team; 2019) and Rogers (Second Team; 2022).

2023 SEASON
Pearl River continued to raise the bar under head coach Christie Meeks in 2023, finishing the year with a program record 43 victories. PRCC also went 20-0 at Wildcat Stadium. In the Region 23 Tournament, PRCC battled to a third-place finish, narrowly missing out on a National Tournament berth.
