Scotty Fletcher is entering his ninth season as head coach of the Pearl River women's basketball program in 2023-24.

Under his guidance, the Wildcats have made steady progress, having increased their win totals annually. The Wildcats also made the MACJC and Region XXIII Tournaments in 2019 for the first time since 2014.

In '20, PRCC made a return trip to the MACJC Tournament.

During the 2021-22 season, Fletcher and his Wildcats had one of the best seasons in program history, finishing the year with a 22-6 record, an MACCC Championship and the school's first appearance in the Region 23 Championship game since 2003. PRCC also jumped into the NJCAA rankings at No. 18.

The 2022-23 season was another year of huge success for Fletcher's Wildcats. They finished the year ranked 23rd in the NJCAA and with a 24-3 record. PRCC was dominant in conference play with a mark of 12-2 against MACCC foes. The Wildcats battled their way through the Region 23 Tournament to advance to the championship game for a second straight season.

Prior to coming to PRCC, Fletcher served as assistant men's basketball coach under Steve Knight and head junior varsity men's coach at William Carey University.

Fletcher earned his bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with a minor in English from WCU in 2007. He then completed his Master's Degree in Education from WCU in 2009.

After helping PRCC claim a state championship in 2002-03 under Coach Richard Mathis, Fletcher played his final two collegiate seasons at Carey from 2005-07. As a senior, Fletcher started all 30 games and averaged 9.4 points per game and led the team with 66 3-point baskets. He finished his career with 118 3-pointers made, which is fifth-most by a Crusader; his 38.9 three point field goal percentage is seventh in school history.

His coaching career began in the fall of 2007 as a graduate assistant at Ole Miss under Andy Kennedy. In his one season in Oxford, Fletcher helped guide the Rebels to a 24-11 record and Final Four appearance in the NIT, where the Rebels lost to Ohio State in the semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Fletcher then returned to WCU for one season (2008-09). During his first stint with the Crusaders, he helped Carey post its first win over a Division I program with a victory over Louisiana-Monroe.

In 2009, Fletcher took a position as an assistant coach for former Southern Miss coach James Green at Jacksonville State (Ala.) from 2009-11. In his first season at Jacksonville, the Gamecocks made their first appearance in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in five seasons. At the time, he was the youngest assistant in the OVC and among the youngest recruiters in all of Division I.

When Fletcher returned to Carey in 2011, the Crusaders had finished last in the Southern States Conference, but in his four seasons as Knight’s top assistant, Carey was 74-20 and earned back-to-back trips to the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. In his first season back at Carey, the Crusaders finished 23-8 after Fletcher helped Carey sign seven Division I prospects.

In 2013-14, the Crusaders finished undefeated in SSAC play, going 21-0, including three victories in the SSAC Tournament to capture the tournament championship. They finished 28-3 which stands as the best basketball season in the books at Carey.

As a recruiter, he signed seven players who were All-SSAC, and four who were named NAIA All-America, including first-team selections Jeremiah Dunnings, Donta Pittman, Troy Salvant and former PRCC standout Daron Bell.

He is also a proud supporter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was in charge of William Carey’s FCA when he coached there.

Fletcher is a graduate of Petal High School.

Fletcher is married to the former Lori Hughes. They have one daughter, Kaitlyn.

Prior to the 2020-21 school year, Fletcher was named Athletics Director.

After Pearl River Athletics saw unparralled success on and off the fields and courts since 2020-21, Fletcher moved into an Assistant Athletics Director role ahead of the 2022-23 school year to focus on his basketball program full-time.
