Student Athletic Trainers

What does a student athletic trainer do?

Pearl River Community College Sports Medicine Program is a very important part of the overall success of all PRCC athletic programs. We are responsible for the prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of all athletic injuries that our athletes may encounter.  The student athletic trainer at PRCC assists the Licensed Athletic Trainers in all aspects of athletic training. Student athletic trainers assist with or perform duties such as taping, administering treatments, providing first aid, and stretching. Our student athletic trainers are dedicated to both the well being of athletes as well as themselves.

What are the requirements for being a student athletic trainer?

All incoming trainers will be required to attend fall football practice that begins 2 weeks before school starts. You will be allowed to move into dorms at this time or if you are a commuter  - you are RESPONSIBLE for transportation to and from practice.  Dress code appropriate athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes are to be worn.
