POPLARVILLE, Miss. –The Pearl River baseball team's 3rd Annual First-Pitch Dinner is coming up soon and you're invited.

The No. 8 Wildcats will hold the annual gathering at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Olivia Bender Cafeteria on the Poplarville campus.

The guest speaker this year is PRCC alumnus and motivational speaker Kendale Lumpkins.

"Our First-Pitch Dinner is a great opportunity to showcase our 2019 players and their families," PRCC Coach Michael Avalon said. "We are very fortunate to have Mr. Kendale Lumpkins speaking and his speech will, without a doubt, be worth the price of admission.

"All supporters and community members are welcome, and we thank you for your continued support of our program."

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children. To reserve your spot, call or email Coach Michael Avalon at 601-497-4300 or mavalon@prcc.edu.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS

The defending MACJC Champs open the 2019 season Feb. 10 with a doubleheader against national power Jefferson College. Opening Day is set to commence at noon.

PRCC has garnered plenty of attention this offseason. In addition to having 11 sophomores sign with four-year programs in the fall, the Wildcats have also landed on most preseason rankings. The NJCAA has PRCC ranked No. 8 among Division II programs; Perfect Game's Top 50 – regardless of division or league affiliation – has the Wildcats No. 26; and Prep Baseball Report's JUCO Wire has the Wildcats at No. 6 among D-II programs.

Freshman Dexter Jordan (Hattiesburg) was recently named the No. 37 prospect by Perfect Game.

After the Feb. 10 opener, PRCC won't be home again at Dub "Paw Paw" Herring Park until a Feb. 22 doubleheader against Coastal Alabama-South. The Wildcats open their MACJC slate March 16 at "The Dub" against Northeast.
