No. 2 Pearl River’s Tate Parker earns second MACCC Player of the Week honor

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 2 Pearl River baseball's Tate Parker (Gulfport; West Harrison) was tearing the cover off the baseball last week. For his efforts, the outfielder has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.

Parker has now claimed the award twice this season.

The sophomore was honored after turning in an unbelievable week in the batter's box. In doubleheaders against Copiah-Lincoln and Holmes, Parker had a .800 batting average with three home runs, one double, eight RBIs, nine runs scored, five walks and four stolen bases.

Parker turned in one of his best games of the season in game one of PRCC's doubleheader against Holmes. He finished 5-for-5 with three homers and five RBIs. It was the second time that he has had a 5-for-5 game this season after doing it against rival Jones College earlier in the year.

Through 32 games this season, the center fielder has a .475 batting average and .907 slugging percentage with 56 hits, 46 runs, 45 RBIs, 13 home runs and 13 stolen bases.

His name is scattered throughout the NJCAA leaderboard. Heading into a doubleheader against Hinds, Parker is first in homers, fifth in hits, seventh in RBIs, tenth in runs and eleventh in slugging percentage.
