No. 2 PRCC's Topher Jones takes home second MACCC Player of the Week honor

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Topher Jones (Hernando) has been on a tear for No. 2 Pearl River baseball, earning him the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference's Player of the Week award.

Jones' honor secured a sweep of the MACCC's weekly awards as KK Clark (Brandon) was the conference's Pitcher of the Week. The selection makes two on the year for Jones, who won the award for the first time March 18.

The Mississippi State transfer went 9-for-15 (.600) at the dish in a perfect 4-0 week for Pearl River. He bashed three doubles, one triple, and one homer, along with a team-high eight RBIs. He also walked twice on the week.

Since April 1, Jones is hitting .537 with 10 extra-base hits and an incredible 23 RBIs. He has taken his production to another level as of late and is now hitting a blistering .359 across 46 games. He has hit 11 doubles, six homers and one triple. His 53 RBIs are the most on the team.

Pearl River hosts rival No. 7 Jones College in a pivotal MACCC doubleheader. The action is set to get underway at 3 p.m. PRCC will have free hot dogs for PRCC students who show their student ID and $1 hot dogs for general fans.
